Thank you to the lady who stopped to enjoy my son's joy. You don't know how many times my son and I have sat in this spot and we get stares, looks of confusion, and silence. People walk by quickly, usually the adults, the kids walk by slowly as if to try and make sense of this large boy wearing headphones behaving "oddly".
You walked right up to us and said "well isn't he having so much fun!" with a big smile on your face. You even giggled, which made us giggle. You had a twinkle in your eye, a spring in your step, your comment was genuine and full of kindness. Thank you. It's rare we get such an interaction so pure.
Teo is pure joy on our walks. His movements and vocal stims are a part of him and a part of what makes him a joy. Not everyone will agree.
Thank you for recognizing the fun he was having and exuding.
Thank you for speaking to us.
Thank you for exchanging your lovely spirit.
It was perfect timing. Sometimes these walks with him can feel lonely. He may or may not interact with me. He's typically in his own world. You made it feel like we were seen. I was seen.
Some days I feel like I should tell Teo to be quiet or stop moving like that. Most days I don't, but I have my moments. The moments I want him to behave "normally." Our walks in nature usually is not where I tell him to be quiet or stop moving, it is a place to fully express himself however he wants.
Thank you for seeing that, random lady on our path.
Teo is loud. He screams, screeches, he hums, he laughs big belly laughs, he rolls around, he jumps, he flaps his arms, he is just himself. When we go for our walks we are in nature and usually walking by ourselves but will occasionally pass by a person or two.
This picture I took is Teo sitting in his favorite spot during our morning hikes. The same spot we were sitting at when you walked by. He loves this spot. It's high up above the river.
He can hear the soft hum of the water flow by us as we sit.
Thank you beautiful lady that took a moment for us.
